Abstract

Antibiotic resistance plasmids (RP4, pMG1, R679 and R91-5) were useu as prn nwy selective markers to detect the faints in Pseudomonas spp. By using plasmid marker, clones containing both phaaids of parental strain were obtained as faints by direct selection. The apheroplast fusion was occered not only between strains of laterspeeies, but also between strains of iotergenas suck as Pseudomonas and & cob. The frequencies of faint formation were variable from 2.$x10-1 to 6.0 x 10. -4 In addition, chromosomal recombinants were formed among the clones with both parental pMamids in frequencies of 0.44-1.3%. The faint formation frequency between interspecles or intrasperies was not different markedly, but stability of plasmids i faints correlated with the phjlogeaie smiarity of the parental strains.
